There’s nothing better than having the perfect dining experience: cordial staff serving exquisite food that you can enjoy with delightful company, surrounded by an engrossing ambiance. When everything comes together just right, a single meal can become an unforgettable event. It’s not such an easy feat to achieve, and certainly takes a good deal of diligence with a pinch of luck on the part of a restaurant. While many eateries might shy away from the pressure, this is the standard by which Marker 32 hopes to be judged with every customer we seat.
How it starts
Food service is a high-risk, high-reward industry that requires a lot of tenacity and ambition. Anyone owning or managing their own restaurant must be 100 percent committed to the endeavor. They must have the know-how and a fine touch to coordinate everything from scheduling shifts and managing expenses to connecting with vendors and preparing delicious dishes. For those at the top of this trade, even the slightest dash of salt doesn’t go unnoticed.
Marker 32’s co-owner’s and operator’s Ben and Lisa Groshell fully embrace this mentality. When it comes to crafting the ideal dining experience had by each and every patron who walks through Marker 32’s doors, it all starts with them.
Educated at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Ben is an expert in cuisine. Recently honored by being named one of the best chefs in the country, every dish on the Marker 32 menu was created under his masterful guidance. His better half Lisa is responsible for bringing the savvy to the business end of the restaurant. Even with the economic downturn, Marker 32 has thrived, and the couple was even able to open another restaurant in Palm Valley in 2009.
All in all, the Groshell’s passion and skill for providing high-quality dining is undeniable.
How it happens
When you arrive at Marker 32, you climb the stairs (or ride the elevator) to a dining room overlooking the Intercoastal Waterway. Soft, warm lighting compliment the hardwood floors and tastefully muted carpeting. Candles flicker on tables surrounded by oceanic-themed art and scenic views. The bar comes fully stocked and the seafood fresh. The setting is ideal for everything from a romantic evening to a night out with the whole family.
Marker 32 also takes pride in hiring an accommodating and amiable staff. Because at Marker’s, we recognize the reality that even a five-star meal won’t rid the bad taste left in your mouth by poor service. From bartenders to busboys, ask and you shall receive. The wait staff will be more than happy to offer their advice to help you make those tough menu decisions…
…and if you are a person that loves seafood, deciding on what to order will undoubtedly be tough, what with the fresh mussel and oyster appetizers and the daily changing “Seared Catch” entrée. For those favoring the land-dwelling kind of meat, you’re not off the hook on tough choices either. If the “Cast Iron Seared Beef Tenderloin” (served with oven roasted potatoes, truffled leek puree, and Whipped port butter) or the “Bone-In Pork Chop” (accompanied by crispy potato cake, green beans, and bacon balsamic demi) doesn’t start your mouth-watering, it may time to get a new mouth.
The Result
A trip to Marker 32 is well worth the visit for anyone looking for that perfect dining experience. Of course, no restaurant can make an absolute guarantee of everything coming together just right, but Marker 32 just might have the pinch of luck that makes a single dining experience unforgettable.
