The Jacksonville weather is incredibly unpredictable. One day we’re in gloves and a winter coat, the next we’re in shorts and flip flops. Changes in temperature make it difficult to plan your meals and outfits, but there’s one thing that prevails no matter the season — vodka. Vodka cocktails are acceptable every day of the year, and Marker 32 is here with a few boozy favorites to enjoy this January.
Winter Citrus Moscow Mule
You simply can’t go wrong with a classic Mule with a twist. This is the perfect afternoon sipper on a chilly day with bright sunshine.
Ingredients:
2 shots vodka
Juice of one lime
Juice of one orange
Splash of spicy ginger beer (to warm you up!)
Orange and lime wheels, for garnish
Shake the first three ingredients together with ice. Top with ginger beer and citrus slices. Serve chilled, then repeat.
Warming White Sangria
Sangria sneaks up on you. You think you’re drinking wine, but next thing you know the liquor goes to your head. You’ve been warned!
Ingredients:
1 Oz. Vodka of Choice
1 Oz. Elderflower Liqueur
1 Cup White Wine of Choice
¾ Oz. Simple Syrup
1 Oz. Fresh Lime Juice
An assortment of sliced pears, blackberries and strawberries
In a cocktail shaker, muddle a few of the berries. Add the ice and all other ingredients. Shake and pour into a glass, then garnish with fresh berries and pears.
A Classic Bourbon Smash (…Sub Vodka!)
Our lightened-up take on a classic bourbon smash makes this heavy cocktail appropriate a bit more approachable. We have no doubt you’ll love it, especially considering how easy it is to make.
2 Tbsp of your favorite jam (we love peach or raspberry)
1 Tbsp orange liqueur
2 Tbsp vodka
3 Tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
Orange pinwheels
Splash of club soda
Directions: Add 1/2 cup ice, jam, vodka, liqueur and OJ to a shaker and mix for 20 seconds. Pour into a glass with some ice cubes and add a splash of club soda to the top. Garnish with the orange slices.
Start the New Year with a Relaxing, Delicious Cocktail Hour
Even though we’re nearing the end of January, it’s still important to toast all of the exciting things on the horizon. With travel opening back up and concerts starting again, we can think of a few reasons to sip one of these great cocktails.
