Gin is a versatile liquor that works well 365 days of the year. Whether you crave a warming sour or a cooled down G&T, gin is a great option no matter the season. The Marker 32 crew knows all too well the need to mix things up in late summer. If you’ve been sipping boring seltzers and beer all summer, we’re here to help you out. Here are our favorite easy gin sippers for a hot summer day:
Keep it Classic with a Tom Collins
The Tom Collins is a summertime staple you just can’t miss. This drink’s light citrus elements make it the perfect pairing to a day on the boat or a relaxing evening on your patio.
Ingredients:
2 oz dry gin
½ oz simple syrup
1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
Club soda or sparkling water
Lemon wheel and maraschino cherry, to garnish
Add the first three ingredients to a Tom Collins glass. Fill with ice, top with club soda and stir. Add garnishes and enjoy.
Sip a Refreshing Cucumber Mint Gimlet
This is vacation in a glass, plain and simple. There’s no room for artificial sweeteners in this naturally delicious gimlet rendition.
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz dry gin
¼ peeled cucumber, cubed
Bunch of mint leaves
1 ½ tsp agave nectar
Juice of 1 lime
Muddle the cucumber, mint and agave in a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice and add the lime juice and gin. Shake until chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a sprig of mint.
A Timeless Gin Fizz is the Way to Go
This simple cocktail packs a punch and tastes delicious. If we’ve learned anything, it’s that you can’t go wrong with citrus and gin.
Ingredients:
2 oz Gin
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp agave nectar or powdered sugar
4 oz club soda or sparkling water
Lemon slice
Shake the first 3 ingredients together with ice. Strain into a glass filled to the brim with ice, then top with club soda. Garnish with a lemon slice.
